ASLA's 2026–2028 Strategic Plan sets three priorities for the next two years: Sport Integrity, Promote & Advocate, and System Alignment. Built on direct feedback from PSOs, MSOs, and sport councils across the province, it marks ASLA's shift from building foundations to delivering focused impact.

Alberta's sport organizations told us what they need: less fragmentation, a stronger collective voice, and support to do the right things well. Our 2026–2028 Strategic Plan responds directly to that feedback with concrete commitments in Safe Sport, advocacy, and sector alignment.

This Strategic Plan presents an opportunity to chart a path forward over the next 2 years, building on our collective purpose and vision for sport in Alberta.

  • Mary Moran

    CHAIR, Board of Directors

    CORPORATE DIRECTOR AND FORMER EXECUTIVE
    Mary is a retired executive with a 40-year career spanning across the private sector and public service, primarily in the airline, telecommunications and economic development sectors. Mary was the CEO of the Calgary 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Bid.

  • Gary Davies

    VICE CHAIR, Board of Directors

    CANADIAN SPORT INSTITUTE ALBERTA
    As President/CEO of Canadian Sport Institute Alberta, Gary leads a team of 70 sport science practitioners whose main goal is to ensure Alberta’s high-performance athletes reach the Olympic and Paralympic podium.

  • Kim Ewasechko

    CHAIR, Finance & Audit Committee

    COACH, MANAGER AND ADMINISTRATOR
    After a fulfilling amateur sporting career at first as a provincial then national team athlete, Kim has been giving back to sport as a Coach, a Manager and as an Administrator within a PSO and an NSF environment. Kim comes to the ASLA with broad business experience from strategic, financial, commercial and risk management roles and with growing governance experience from his position on not-for-profit sport boards and health boards.

  • Diane Clarke

    VOLLEYBALL ALBERTA ASSOCIATION
    With decades of experience in the sport sector, Diane is Volleyball Alberta’s CEO. She has excelled as a multi-sport athlete, coach, sport scientist, and administrator, driving growth and development.

  • Andrew Trevoy

    CHAIR, Governance Committee

    LAWYER
    Andy came to the Board as a long-time triathlete and runner, and from the Triathlon Alberta Board.  Andy is a lawyer, business owner, mentor, not-for-profit board volunteer, and grandpa, not necessarily in that order.

  • Jef Bailey

    ATHLETICS ALBERTA

    An experienced leader with nearly 20 years in the not-for-profit sport sector, currently the Executive Director of Athletics Alberta, Jef brings a diverse skill set in governance, event management, strategic planning, funding and organizational development. He is passionate about championing sport as an accessible, inclusive and safe environment for all Albertans.

  • Shawn Holman

    SWIM ALBERTA
    Shawn, ChPC, is serving his third term on the ASLA Board. As the Executive Director of Swim Alberta, he brings strategic expertise from leadership roles at Speed Skating Canada and the University of Calgary.

  • Lyn Radford

    CHAIR, Safe Sport Committee

    Lyn resides in Red Deer, and known for  championing creativity, community spirit, and excellence in sports. With a history of award-winning contributions to sport and active involvement on several boards, Lyn thrives in fostering connections, generating ideas, and exploring inspiring stories in their surroundings.

  • Susan Eymann

    SECRETARY, Board of Directors

    LETHBRIDGE SPORT COUNCIL
    As Executive Director of the Lethbridge Sport Council, Susan has five decades of experience as an athlete, coach, coach facilitator and evaluator, administrator, and volunteer.

    Goran Miletic

    Goran is the Executive Director of the Alberta Sport Leadership Association (ASLA), bringing 10+ years in sport, strategic communications, social impact, and advocacy. A former University of Alberta track athlete, he holds a Master’s in Sport Management from the International Academy of Sport Science & Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland and has led projects with UNDP, Mission 89, and the Global Equality Caucus alongside community initiatives across Alberta. He now guides ASLA’s work to strengthen governance, support PSOs/MSOs, and build a safer, more connected sport system. Outside work, Goran spends time in the mountains, makes frequent trips to see family and friends in Europe, and is a big fan of trying new sports.

  • Program Coordinator

    Shannon Hatch

    Shannon Hatch joins ASLA as a Program Coordinator, bringing experience as a former professional athlete, youth coach, and sport professional with four years in sport coordination and community engagement. She holds a Master’s degree in Sport Management & Leadership and is passionate about leveraging sport as a tool for positive change and is committed to fostering safe, and inclusive environments for all participants. In her role at ASLA, she supports the ABSSCM coordination, policy alignment, education logistics, and reporting. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling to new places, staying active, and exploring the outdoors.
